A brief introduction:
Hello and welcome to BMcJ Artworks©. I'm a freelance artist located in the gentle hills of central Mississippi.
I specialize in fine art portraits - landscapes, people, pets and wildlife. I primarily use quality soft pastel sticks, colored soft pastel pencils, and tinted graphite pencils on textured cloth papers or velour papers. Only acid-free, archival quality materials are used, insuring that each piece will last for years and years.
For commissioned work, I request good quality photos of your portrait's subject. The eyes are the windows to the soul, so they should be clearly visible, as well as facial expressions and/or body language that you think best captures the subject's characteristics and personality traits.
Each project is unique, and can often take several weeks from start to finish, depending on the size, number of subjects, and the amount of detail involved. I'm also a substitute teacher, balancing projects between sub assignments as they present themselves.
Forensic Composites:
As a certified Forensic Artist and member of the International Association for Identification (IAI), I am called in by investigators to sketch an assimilated likeness of an unknown subject based solely upon eyewitness testimony. My interviews include the use of facial identification aids and are conducted in a casual, compassionate, nonjudgemental manner. It is my firm belief and experience that if the witness feels comfortable, they will be more relaxed and therefore better able to recall events. Once the sketch is completed - and only to the satisfaction of the eyewitness - it is turned over to investigators for their use. I use the same archival quality materials for composite sketches as I do in my fine art pieces. Properly stored, 100+ years from now it will look as fresh as the day it was created.
If your agency is in need of a composite artist, you may use this site's contact and email icons at the top of this page, or call 662-739-9370 to set an appointment.
Each session is different. on average a single composite sketch can take 2 hours or more to complete, sometimes less, but expect the longer time frame. I never rush an interviewee!
At present I am the only IAI certified Forensic Artist in the state of Mississippi. References provided on request.
